ABOUT THE BlOG
I am led by two things, a love of creating and an unyielding need to keep moving. I am a collector of skills and those skills generally revolve around using my own two hands to create what is often no longer created by our hands. I am also filled with wanderlust and have been in and out of a career in the field of International Development for the past 6 years. I love spending hours baking bread and crackers but often find myself moving from one place to another so quickly stocking a pantry is not an option….other times neither is having a kitchen.
I go back and forth between two worlds: one of a nomadic traveller moving where work or adventure can be found and the other of a simplistic, back to basics seeking, homesteader-wanna-be. This is where the two lives will converge.

The inspiration for the title Gypsy Boots Trail comes from Robert Bootzin's (1914-2004) nickname, Gypsy Boots. Bootzin is the man credited with popularly introducing America to alternative lifestyle practices like yoga and health food. A major inspiration for the back-to-basics portion of the hippie movement, Bootzin and the Nature Boys, a granola band of misfits, preferred to live a pure and simple life rather than buy into popular cultural practices. They preferred nature and connecting with people on a real level. The counter-culturalist lifestyle of people like Bootzin and Thoreau are inspirations to me as I attempt to forge my own trail balancing the modern life of conveniences around me and the life I know deep down inside is right for me.
